2009 MLR 2nd Annual Ride For Seniors

Toni Marie will joining us again this year to highlight the MLR Ride for Seniors on the NTV evening news and weather. You are encouraged to please join us on August 10, 2009, we need as many riders there as possibe to help promote the ride for seniors and the Seniors Resource Centre. Registrations will be accepted during this promotional event and can be paid by cash, cheque, visa or mastercard.

This year the money raised from the MLR Ride for Seniors on August 29, 2009 will help fund the Friendly Visiting Program provided by the Seniors Resource Centre to the seniors or our province. The Friendly Visiting Program costs the Seniors Resource Centre approximately $50,000.00 annually to fund but this cost pales when compared to the importance this program is to the many seniors who receive so much joy from one weekly visit from a volunteer. The Friendly Visiting Program is designed to provide a social contact and companionship to seniors on a weekly basis. Seniors and volunteers are matched based on common interest and the weekly visit can often be the highlight of that seniors life and in many cases, as it is for me, the highlight of a volunteers life as well. Imagine a life with limited social contact or conversation, a life of silence and loneliness! This is too often the case for many of our seniors. Help us keep this valuable program thriving by joining us on the MLR Annual Ride for Seniors on August 29, 2009.
